Prof. Dr. Üner Çolak

Prof. Dr. Üner Çolak completed his undergraduate education at İTU Metallurgy Faculty in 1982. Later he received his master’s degree in 1986 and his doctorate in 1989 in the field of Nuclear Engineering at Iowa State University in the USA as part of the scholarship of the T.C Ministry of National Education. In 1989, he started to work as a faculty member in the Department of Nuclear Energy Engineering at Hacettepe University. He became Associate Professor in 1994 and Professor in 2004. During this period, he served as the Deputy Head of the Department, Head of the Department and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. Prof. Çolak also served as the Vice President of the Information Processing Department, and the Director of the Continuing Education Center at Hacettepe University. Between 2005 and 2007, he taught Nuclear Materials at Northwest University in South Africa. He has given many seminars at universities in Japan and the USA. As of 2012, he started to work at İstanbul Technical University Energy Institute. He was the Head of Renewable Energy Division, and Nuclear Research Division. He has published more than 50 international articles within the scope of SCI, and nearly 100 papers in international conferences. He worked as a project manager and researcher in many national and international scientific projects and industrial R&D projects. SMR designs, nuclear cogeneration, nuclear supply chain, and nuclear reactor materials are among his areas of expertise.
